Waste is double-wrapped in approved packaging and labelled for both asbestos content and the carriage of dangerous goods. Loading routes are planned so clean areas of the site are not cross-contaminated.

Collection by registered carriers
Collections are made by registered waste carriers using vehicles suited to hazardous loads. Timings can be arranged around site access, deliveries, shift patterns and occupied areas.

Transfer station handling
Our Sheffield head office operates an Environment Agency registered asbestos waste transfer station, so loads are handled under our own permitted controls rather than passed between third parties.
STEP 5
Consignment notes and disposal records
You receive the consignment note and supporting disposal documentation for your files. These records evidence compliant disposal if you are audited, and should be retained for at least three years.

Asbestos waste management FAQs
When is asbestos waste classed as hazardous?
Waste containing more than 0.1% asbestos is classed as hazardous waste. That includes obvious material such as insulation board and lagging, but also contaminated overalls, sheeting, rubble and equipment used during the works.
What paperwork will I receive?
A consignment note for the movement, plus disposal documentation confirming where the waste was taken. Keep these records for at least three years as evidence that your duty of care was discharged properly.
Can I take asbestos waste to a local tip?
Waste from a business cannot be disposed of that way. It must be moved by a registered carrier to a site permitted to accept asbestos, and the movement documented. Using an unpermitted route risks prosecution and significant fines.
Do you collect waste from removal carried out by someone else?
Yes, subject to a check that the material has been packaged, wrapped and labelled correctly. If it has not, we can advise on what needs to be put right before the load can be accepted.
Do I need a survey before waste is removed?
If the material has not been identified, yes. An asbestos survey and sampling confirms what you are dealing with, which in turn determines how it must be packaged, transported and disposed of.
What if asbestos has contaminated the ground?
Contaminated soil is a different problem from bagged waste and is dealt with through contaminated land remediation. We can assess both together where a site has each issue.
What should I do if I think waste has been dumped illegally?
